Vampires have always been crowd-pleasing monsters, but, at the moment, they seem to be everywhere! I can’t claim to fully understand their current popularity, but the overabundance of books, movies and TV shows featuring your friendly neighbourhood blood suckers are omnipresent. Now, I’m not prone to conspiracy theories, but here’s what I think :
Crazy theory #1 : real vampires have infiltrated the entertainment industry in order to promulgate an image that is attractive to goths and teenage girls everywhere, making it easier to find willing prey.
Crazy theory #2 : actual creatures of the night are saturating the media so that we will be more welcoming once they come out of the coffin and make their existence known to us.
But I digress. All I want to do, in a roundabout way, is to introduce you to some of Raphael Albuquerque’s amazing Norman Rockwellian covers for the outstanding comic book American Vampire. Art to sink your teeth into (I am the master of bad puns!).
