Best Comics: Thor, God of Thunder

Let me start this blog entry by stating a few trivial but telling facts about myself :

  1. I love to read comics. It’s one of my favorite things in the whole wide world.
  2. My interest in reading material does not, in general, naturally gravitate towards superhero comics. It’s not that I dislike them, but why should I limit myself to just one part of the sequential art menu when there is such a varied selection to choose from?
  3. My reading recommendations are based on two major factors : the quality of the writing and of the art.

Bottom line : I want great stories that are beautiful to look at.

Having said all that, I highly recommend you read ‘Thor, God of Thunder‘.

This comic meets my two essential criteria in spades. And don’t worry if, like me, you’ve never read a Thor comic or know next to nothing about Marvel’s version of this Norse god.¬†You simply require a love of reading and the time to fully appreciate Jason Aaron’s storytelling abilities and Esad Ribic’s jaw-dropping illustrations.

But don’t simply take my word for it. This masterpiece in-the-making has been praised by much more reputable and authoritative pop culture sources than The Geek Likes!. So if you need more convincing arguments to pick up Thor, God of Thunder, please read the following glowing reviews from iFanboy, IGN and SciFiNow magazine.
