Best Comics: RASL

RASL coverI love conspiracy theories. That doesn’t mean I believe that secret societies are controlling every aspect of our lives or that aliens are living among us (or are they?). I just think that they are great fodder for writers to come up with cool stories. And Jeff Smith, author of the seminal Bone series, has come up with a doozy.

Ever hear of Nikola Tesla? If not, I can’t blame you. He was born more than 100 years ago and most of his major accomplishments were achieved between the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century. But there is no denying that this individual led an eventful and colorful life. And his reputation has experienced a comeback in popular culture since the 1990s due to the fact that his work and reputed inventions have been used to support various pseudosciences, UFO theories and New Age occultism.

This is the basis for RASL. Jeff Smith has interwoven various elements of Tesla’s life in a convoluted tale that crisscrosses dimensions. Saying anymore would be criminal. I simply urge you to seek this great title from a comic book creator that should definitely be on your must-read list.
